Frequently asked questions

Your questions, answered

Clients often ask about services, airspace, permits and deliverables before booking. Here are straight answers to the most common ones.

What types of aerial services do you offer?

I provide high-resolution aerial photography, drone videography, construction progress documentation, aerial mapping, real estate shoots and inspection services for roofs, towers, power lines and more. I also offer helicopter photography for projects that need high altitude or access to airspace a drone cannot enter.

Are you FAA-licensed and insured?

Yes. Every drone flight is flown by an FAA Part 107 licensed remote pilot, and I am fully insured to meet the requirements of private clients and commercial job sites.

What is your turnaround time?

Edited aerial photos typically arrive within 24 to 48 hours of the shoot, and edited video within 48 to 72 hours. Weather and project scope can change that, so your quote confirms the delivery date before the flight.

How much does aerial photography cost?

It depends on what you need delivered, the size of the site, how often I fly, where it is and the airspace. Every job gets one clear price for the whole scope before the first flight. My guide explains what sets the price of aerial photography and what to send for an accurate quote.

Can you fly in controlled airspace?

Often, yes. Send me the location before booking and I will check the airspace, request the FAA authorizations when they are required, and confirm whether a drone or helicopter shoot is feasible. For certain high-security or airport-adjacent areas, I may need advance notice to secure approval.

Can you fly drones near airports in Louisville?

Often, with LAANC authorization, which allows flights at limited altitudes, typically 50 to 200 feet depending on distance from the runways. Send me the site location before booking and I will check whether a drone flight is feasible and which authorizations are needed. Where a drone is unsuitable, I can assess whether helicopter photography is a practical option, subject to its own airspace requirements and clearances. More detail: flying drones near Louisville airports.

How high can you fly your drone?

Drones can legally fly up to 400 feet above ground level in unrestricted airspace. In controlled airspace near airports I am often authorized for lower altitudes, such as 50 to 200 feet.

Can you fly over private property?

Yes, in most cases I can fly over private property for photography or inspection while complying with FAA regulations. I communicate with property owners and take privacy seriously.

Do I need to get any permits myself?

No. I handle the FAA airspace authorizations as part of the service, and I will tell you up front if a site needs any other permit.

Do you offer interior or ground-level photography?

Yes. Alongside aerial work I offer interior and exterior ground photography, including real estate packages, marketing imagery and progress documentation for construction firms.

Can I use the footage commercially?

Yes. All projects include full commercial usage rights unless otherwise specified, and you receive high-resolution files suitable for print, web and advertising.

What areas do you serve?

I primarily serve Louisville, Lexington and Southern Indiana, including Jeffersonville, New Albany and Clarksville, and I regularly travel across Kentucky, from Bowling Green and Elizabethtown to Frankfort and Northern Kentucky, and into Southern Indiana, and farther when a project calls for it. For larger commercial projects, construction documentation or scheduled mapping I also work throughout the Southeast and Midwest; travel is part of the quote, which you get before anything is booked.

What are the benefits of using a helicopter instead of a drone?

A helicopter can often photograph areas where drones are restricted (with the clearances that airspace requires), higher-altitude views with wider coverage, and fast transport between several sites, which suits large industrial, commercial and regional projects.

How do I book a shoot?
