Flying Near Airports

At Aerial Photography Louisville, safety and compliance are always my top priorities - especially when it comes to flying near airports.

Many people don’t realize that drone operations near airports are highly regulated by the FAA. In controlled airspace, drone pilots must request and receive authorization through LAANC (Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability) before they can legally fly. In some cases, I can secure clearance to fly at reduced altitudes - typically between 50 and 200 feet - depending on proximity to the runway and local restrictions.

Thanks to my FAA Part 107 certification, experience with airspace maps, and consistent communication with local air traffic control when needed, I’m often able to get drone clearance - even in tight areas around regional or international airports.

But What Happens When I Can’t Fly a Drone at All?

That’s where my helicopter aerial photography service comes in. For locations where drones are restricted or denied entirely, I can take to the skies in a helicopter, allowing me to legally and safely capture high-resolution aerial images from altitudes and positions a drone cannot reach.
