A commercial real estate team had just listed land on both sides of Dixie Highway in West Point, Kentucky, and a map pin was not going to sell it. Buyers needed to see where each parcel sits, how big it is and what surrounds it: the town, the power plant, the cement plant, the rail lines and the highway itself. So every frame that mattered got outlines, acreage labels and callouts.
01 · The Brief
Three parcels, one highway between them
The property straddles Dixie Highway south of West Point. The west side is one large parcel with a lake beside the CSX line. The east side is split by the Paducah & Louisville Railway into two more parcels, with the road to Fort Duffield Park along its northern edge. The listing team wanted the photos and the video to show all of that at a glance, plus wider shots that place the land in Southwest Jefferson County and the Dixie Highway corridor.
02 · Two Flights
Getting the whole property into one frame
The first flight was on March 19, 2026. The airspace over the parcels is uncontrolled, and it was checked before every launch. Reviewing the first set with the listing team showed a better angle was possible, so I went back on March 30 and launched from two different spots, with an extra pass over the section near the park where there are few clear landmarks from the air.
A drone flies no higher than 400 feet, so a frame that shows every parcel on both sides of the highway is a low, sweeping angle rather than a straight-down map. That is fine for marketing: the goal is for a buyer to recognize each piece of land, not to survey it.
A buyer should know which land is which before they ever drive out.
03 · Outlines and Callouts

The team marked up the frames they liked with rough sketches, and I turned those into clean outlines and labels that match across every image: 42.85 acres, 27.8 acres and 12.5 acres, with callouts for the City of West Point, LG&E Mill Creek Station, Kosmos Cement, Fort Duffield Park, the CSX and Paducah & Louisville rail lines, and the way to Radcliff and Elizabethtown.
Two rounds of edits got the details right: the acreage labels on the east side were swapped into the correct order, and the rail line was labeled the way the listing team wanted it. Every outline is approximate and for marketing reference only, not a survey.
